Friends of Brookens Library
The Friends of Brookens Library of the University of Illinois Springfield is a service organization established to support the library. It was formed with two major goals in mind:
- To foster greater community awareness and use of the resources of Brookens Library at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
- To support the development of collections and services in Brookens Library.
Since the time of its founding, the Friends of Brookens Library has also played an important role in helping the library to provide exceptional programming for the greater Springfield community.

Faculty & Staff: $25
Current UIS Students: $5
Gifts in Kind
We welcome and encourage donations that enrich and enhance our collections. Suitable gifts in kind include: books, CDs, DVDs, manuscripts, historic maps, artwork, special collections, and photographs. Gifts in kind may be tax deductible.
To discuss the possible donation of your gift in kind, please contact Janelle Gurnsey, Outreach and Communications Coordinator at (217) 206-8451 or the University Archivist at (217) 206-6520. For gifts of books, DVD’s, CD’s or audio books, not intended for special collections, see Materials Donation below.
When donating to the University Library it is important to remember that the library reserves the right to add the items to the collection, sell them in a library book sale, or dispose of them when necessary. Currently, after two years of inventory, we send unsold books to Better World Books, an organization that funds literacy in underdeveloped countries.
