Gifts in Kind
We welcome and encourage donations that enrich and enhance our collections. Suitable gifts in kind include: books, CDs, DVDs, manuscripts, historic maps, artwork, special collections, and photographs. Gifts in kind may be tax deductible.
To discuss the possible donation of your gift in kind, please contact Stephen McMinn, Director of Collections & Scholarly Communications at (217) 206-8452 or the University Archivist at (217) 206-6520. For gifts of books, DVD’s, CD’s or audio books, not intended for special collections, see Materials Donation below.
When donating to the University Library it is important to remember that the library reserves the right to add the items to the collection, sell them in a library book sale, or dispose of them when necessary. Currently, after two years of inventory, we send unsold books to Better World Books, an organization that funds literacy in underdeveloped countries.
