UIS Alumni are eligible for a local UIS borrowing card which can be obtained at the library circulation desk. By presenting this card they may check out any of the general circulation items for an initial loan of four weeks with three renewals, and one title from the Video/DVD collection for one week with no renewals. They may not request items through I-Share or regular interlibrary loan. They also do not have remote access to any of our licensed databases.
UIC and UIUC alumni will not receive borrowing privileges at UIS unless they are also members of the U of I Alumni Association (UIAA). UIAA annual and life members are allowed to borrow from any of the three U of I campuses. They may also request items from any of those three collections to be sent here for pickup. They do not have remote access to any of the U of I campus databases. More information about membership benefits is available on the UIAA website.
Alumni from other universities do not receive borrowing privileges at Brookens Library. If they want check out privileges they may join the Friends of the Library or, if they are eligible, use the reciprocal agreement we have with the Lincoln Library, the public library in downtown Springfield. Other area public libraries (such as Chatham, Rochester, Sherman, etc.) are NOT included in this agreement.
