Information and Reference Desk
The Brookens Library Information and Reference Desk is located next to the Circulation Desk. It is staffed by librarians and paraprofessionals who can assist students, faculty and community members with their scholarly research and other reference questions, as well as to provide technical support.
Common questions usually deal with the computers, printers, microfilm machines, copiers, I-Card machines, scanners, application software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, SPSS, Live Chat, and other software applications). These issues and others can be addressed by persons at the Information and Reference Desk.
Also, common questions dealing with database searches, geography, contact information and library policy and process questions are also easily addressed by someone at the desk.
Lastly, patrons can get information and answers to questions about available community issues and resources, which usually intersect with living and learning on the UIS campus and the greater Springfield community.
