How big is the UIS collection? What type of materials are collected?
Brookens Library supports UIS with a collection of more than 520,000 volumes, 2,300 periodical subscriptions, nearly 3,500 films, DVDs and video tapes, 200,000 government publications, over 90 databases and 1,800,000 microforms. In addition to these collections there are computer software, maps, audio records, and music compact discs in the library.
The library collects materials primarily to support the curriculum taught. To speak with the librarian for a particular department, see Librarians by Subject Area.
How do I get to the library?
The Library is located in Brookens (BRK), in between the Public Affairs Center (PAC) and the Health Science Building (HSB). Entrances are on Levels 1 (the basement) and 2 (the ground floor). See Maps & Virtual Tour for driving directions.
Where can I park?
Parking Lot C, located just west of the UIS Police Department, is generally the designated parking area for attendees of conferences, though Parking Lot B is fine and just as close to the Library. Metered parking for visitors is also available along the “tear drop” drive in front of lower level entrance to the Public Affairs Center. See Campus Parking for more details.
