Government Information Online - Energy & Science

Logo for GPO Depository Library

A Project of Blackburn College and University of Illinois at Springfield

Note: Many links are using the Government Printing Office's PURLs, or Persistent Uniform Resource Locators, rather than direct links to the federal agencies. This improves the links accuracy, in case the publication was moved to a different URL. However, it does take an extra few seconds to retrieve the website.

Portals & Multiple Agency Websites

GrayLit Network -  Portal for technical report information generated through federally funded research and development projects. Developed by the Energy Department's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), in collaboration with DOD/DTIC, NASA, and EPA.
Science.gov - Portal to 47 million pages of government science information from 1700+ federal agencies. Offers sophisticated, relevance-ranking searching, an alert service, as well as a browse list. Created and maintained by several agencies: the webpage search function is provided by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) , and the browse list is maintained by the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) . The site is hosted by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI).

Delivers leading edge science and technology that is critical to our mission and the nation's science base. Carries out information collection, analysis and research on energy data & prices to help develop informed decisions on long term energy supply and use.
NASA Scientific & Technical Information - Collects and analyzes sets of facts and conclusions resulting from scientific, technical, and related engineering research and development efforts of NASA, both basic and applied.
National Science Foundation - Independent U.S. government agency responsible for promoting science and engineering through programs that invest in research and education projects in science and engineering.

Databases

DOE Information Bridge - Source to full text and bibliographic records of Energy Department research and development reports in physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and other topics. The Information Bridge has a growing collection of over 65,800 full text documents produced and made available by Energy Department's National Laboratories and grantees from 1995 forward.
