Librarian Liaisons
Each Instructional Services Librarian is a liaison
to several UIS academic departments. This encompasses
working with the departmental faculty to develop the library
collection, teaching instructional workshops, providing individual
consultations with students, and in general being the program's
contact person in the library.
Instructional Workshops
Instructional workshops are conducted for classes or groups
upon request. These workshops are designed to assist participants
in identifying and evaluating materials and to develop search
strategies for a particular subject area. Instructors or students
wishing to arrange a workshop should call 206-6633 or contact
the library
liaison for their department.
Services for Persons with Disabilities
The library is sensitive to the needs of persons with disabilities
and has assistive services and facilities available for their
use. Upon request, a library staff member can remove books
or periodicals from shelves, assist with photocopying, and
retrieve and read microforms.
Educational Technology
provides a variety of assistive technologies. There is a large
screen computer which can be adjusted to display large print
or provide sound. Contact Educational Technology at 217-206-6550
for further assistance or information. A wheelchair accessible
photocopier is available on Level 2. If more extensive assistance
is required, please inquire at the Information Desk on Level
2 or call 206-6633.
