The library is located in the Brookens Building, which is the
one in the middle, between the Health & Sciences Building
(HSB) and the Public Affairs Center (PAC). The entrances to the
library
are
on Level 2 or Level 1 -- there is no public access on Levels 3 and 4.

Driving Directions to the Library
Directions to UIS From Chicago OR Champaign
I-72 (from Decatur) merges with I-55 (from Bloomington) in the eastern edge of Springfield. Continue southbound on I-55/72 for approximately 3 miles. Turn off of the interstate at Exit 94 (a short distance beyond the Crowne Plaza Hotel) and turn right (west) onto Stevenson Drive. Go through two traffic lights and at the third traffic signal (Tai Pan Restaurant on the SW corner) turn left (south) onto West Lake Shore Drive. Proceed straight ahead (south) on West Lake Shore Drive and University Drive for approximately 1 ¾ miles to the north side of the campus. At the stop sign, turn right (west) onto Edgar Lee Masters Drive and go to a three-way stop. Turn left (south) onto Ernest Hemingway Drive and go to a four-way stop and turn left (east) onto Eliza Farnham Drive. Go a short distance to Parking Lot C on your left. Walk across the lawn to Brookens Library, which is one of four large brick buildings in the center of the campus. The library is in the four-story building with an observatory on top of the roof.
Directions to UIS From St. Louis
Take I-55 northbound out of the Metro East area. Approximately 1 mile after crossing over Lake Springfield, turn off I-55 at Exit 90 and turn right (east) onto Toronto Road. Follow Toronto Road over the railroad tracks and around the curve and turn left (north) onto 11th Street. The Capital Area Career Center will be on your left. Follow 11th Street to the four-way stop at Ernest Hemingway Drive. Turn right (east) and continue straight ahead until you get to the second set of stop signs and turn left (east) onto Eliza Farnham Drive. Go a short distance to Parking Lot C on your left. Walk across the lawn to Brookens Library, which is one of four large brick buildings in the center of the campus. The library is in the four-story building with an observatory on top of the roof.
Directions to UIS From Jacksonville
Take I-72/U.S. 36 eastbound to Springfield. Turn off the interstate at Exit 97B at the I-55/I-72 interchange. Exit right (south) onto 6th Street and head north toward Springfield. Keep in the right hand lane and proceed to the first stoplight. Turn right (east) onto Hazel Dell Road and go around a sharp curve and pass over the interstate. At the intersection of Hazel Dell Road and 11th Street proceed straight through the stoplights. Continue ahead for 1 mile on 11th Street (watch for the softball diamonds on your right just east of the railroad tracks) and at the four-way stop turn left (east) onto Ernest Hemingway Drive. Continue straight ahead until you get to the second set of stop signs and turn left (east) onto Eliza Farnham Drive. Go a short distance to Parking Lot C on your left. Walk across the lawn to Brookens Library, which is one of four large brick buildings in the center of the campus. The library is in the four-story building with an observatory on top of the roof. (Option 2: Turn off I-72/U.S. 36 at Exit 97A onto I-55 southbound toward St. Louis. Continue south on I-55 for approximately 2 miles. Parking Lot C, located just west of the UIS Police Department, is generally the designated parking area for attendees of conferences. Metered parking for visitors is also available along the “tear drop” drive in front of lower level entrance to the Public Affairs Center.
